-
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It stayed with me because it’s a raw, honest, and powerful story about surviving the unimaginable and turning it into something beautiful. It reminded me that even the most broken beginnings can lead to lives of depth, strength, creativity, and purpose.

What inspired you to be part of TEDxKU?
-
I’ve lived a lot of life. I’ve experienced love, loss, heartbreak, reinvention—and I’ve had to rise more times than I can count. And through it all, I kept asking myself, What actually helps? What gets us through those moments when we think we might not make it? That question led me to build something I now call an Emotional First Aid Kit. And once I realized how powerful it was—not just for me, but for every person navigating pain—I knew I had to share it. TEDxKU felt like the perfect platform because this talk isn’t just about trauma. It’s about transformation. It’s about helping people—especially women in midlife—see that it’s never too late to rebuild, to reframe, and to rise. If just one person hears this talk and feels less alone, more prepared, or more powerful... then it will have been worth every word.
